The government has made it clear that no broadcaster can air any movie, whether in Hindi, English or any other language, which has been certified as 'A' or for Adults Only by the Indian film censor board. According to certain reports, around three dozen television channels have reportedly aired over 380 films which were certified 'A' by the Censor Board of India. According to the Cable TV Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995, only films certified as 'UA' and 'U' can be shown by television channels. Any films having an 'A' certification will need to obtain re-certification from the censor board as 'UA' or 'U' before it can be aired.
